Sunday, September 10, 2000 -Shut up and get to the pictures- We didn't get to the beach until very late, around 3:30pm. Since I didn't have much time, I just built a couple towers with about a 20 foot wall between them. Although the towers were not incredibly tall, I did put a little detail into them and was quite happy with the results. I decided to give one tower a dual top. I kind of dig dual or twin towers. As I dried off from a quick swim to wash off the sand, a tourist from Tennessee wandered by and thought the fortress was quite remarkable. An older lady, she told me all about her parent's experiences at Pearl Harbor back during the bombing in World War II. We talked a little about the war and I told her that the very beach we were standing on was the scene where the first Japanese soldiers were captured after the bombing when their small submarine ran aground. I suggested some hiking trails she might want to try in the four days she had remaining in her vacation and she thanked me. As I got in the Jeep to drive away, I could see her and her family taking pictures of each other in front of my sand fortress. That was nice. As the sun started to set, Lisa and I drove away. We ended up going to a restaurant where I got buzzed on two top-shelf margaritas.
