This was taken before the fortress ever got flooded. You can see the loose sand around and in front of it that hasn't yet been smoothed out by the water. The lighter colored sand and row of seaweed on the far side of the fortress shows how far up the beach the last high tide reached, at around 4:30 in the morning.

This shot also shows how crowded the beach was that day.
